Scrap Metal Recycling Around Madison
Updated
Short answer
Madison wants metal and appliances in their own pile on a large item work order because a separate crew collects them for recycling. Fitchburg, Verona, Sun Prairie and the Town of Medina take scrap metal at municipal sites.
- Fitchburg: Recycling Drop Off Site, residents only.
- Verona: Public Works site, items 50% or more metal.
- Sun Prairie: Recycle Center with a permit.
- Town of Medina: yellow scrap-metal dumpster.
- Dane County Landfill: aluminum containers and stoves, washers and dryers go to metal recycling.
Quick answers
Does Madison recycle metal from large item pickups?
Yes. Metals and appliances are collected by a separate crew and recycled; other items are landfilled.
Rather not haul it yourself?
Tell us what needs to go and where. A local crew sorts the recycling, donation and landfill streams for you and replies with a price first.
