Madison Brush Collection: Set-Out Dates and Size Rules

Updated

Short answer

Every Madison home gets five brush set-out chances a year, starting in April (or late March) and ending in September or early October. Brush goes out on your Sunday and is collected that week. Pieces must be 18 inches to 8 feet long and under 8 inches thick.

  • Terrace only: not the street or sidewalk, at least 5 feet from hydrants, trees, cars, poles and mailboxes.
  • Cut ends facing the same way, no bags or boxes, twine bundles under 4 feet and 40 pounds.
  • Separate from yard waste and from lumber or fencing, which are large items.
  • Big piles go to a crane truck a day or two behind the chipper crews.
  • Out of set-out dates: take brush to a drop-off site.
  • Since July 14, 2025 the brush processing center does not accept contractor brush.
